Course
Bachelor of Science in Optometry is an undergraduate program offered by Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre Bengaluru. B.Sc Optometry is a four-year undergraduate course on vision-related problems and care. Its focus on examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the eye. It also trains the student to use various optical instruments to aid in diagnosing and therapy. The applicant should have passed 12th exam in science stream. The curriculum consists of subjects like optometry; general and ocular biochemistry; clinical psychology; general and ocular physiology; general and ocular anatomy; hospital procedures; low vision aids; pharmacology; optometric instruments and clinical examination of the visual system; optometric and dispensing optics etc.Graduated students can join as Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist, Ophthalmic Assistant or start his own optical shop or optical manufacturing unit.
