Course:
Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc.) Mental Health Nursing is a PG Programme offered by Saveetha College of Nursing Chennai . M.Sc. Psychiatric Nursing is a two-year postgraduate course which focuses on the mental health of patients. The applicant must have a bachelor degree in nursing. The curriculum aims to cover advanced nursing practice, nursing education, mental health nursing, nursing management and research & statistics. The course brings out competent nurses who are capable of assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health problems like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse etc. They are also expected and trained to treat patients with violence, anger issues, grief and other adjustment issues. After diagnosing, they have to implement a treatment plan and practice it. They should administer medications and psychotherapy to the needed patient. The course brings out professionally expert nurses to assume the role of nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, administrators, educators and researchers in different health care facilities.

Eligibility:
- A candidate for admission to the M.Sc. Degree in Nursing must possess a Degree of B.Sc. Nursing from a College / University duly recognized by the Indian Nursing Council with minimum 55% aggregate marks and should have one year of experience, after graduation.
