Siberian State Medical University was founded in 1888 as the medical faculty of the Imperial Tomsk University, today it is an industry leader in the field of healthcare and a participant in the Priority 2030 program. Siberian State Medical University is one of the three best medical universities in Russia, and is also the absolute leader in the number of state-funded places among medical universities beyond the Urals. In 2017, Siberian State Medical University was included in the list of universities selected by the government for the implementation of the education export project. Siberian State Medical University is a large scientific, educational and clinical complex, which includes 4 faculties and 1 institute, where more than 7,500 students from 61 regions of Russia and 39 countries study. The teaching staff of the university consists of 80% of specialists with academic degrees and titles. Students of Siberian State Medical University have a unique opportunity to undergo training and practice on the basis of their own multidisciplinary clinics, where more than 100 thousand patients from all over Russia receive medical care annually. The professional composition of the doctors of the clinics of the Siberian State Medical University is unique - professors, doctors and candidates of medical sciences work among them. The clinics are equipped with all the necessary modern equipment: a state-of-the-art 128-slice CT scanner, MRI, gamma camera, endoscopic and ultrasound complexes, and much more. The Scientific and Medical Library of the Siberian State Medical University is the only public medical library in the Tomsk region, the largest specialized library in Siberia. Also, according to the annual rating of libraries of medical universities compiled by the Academy of Evidence-Based Medicine in 2016, it is the best in Russia.
