Course
MD Dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy is a three-year clinical doctor of medicine program offered at Siddhartha Medical College Vijayawada. NEET- PG passed MBBS holders from recognised medical universities are eligible to apply for this program. The program aims to create competent medical professionals to identify and treat disorders of the outer skin, inner mucous membranes, sexually transmitted skin diseases and leprosy. Some of the techniques used other than drugs are laser therapy, cryotherapy ( freezing), dermal abrasion (scraping damaged skin) or surgery like removing skin tumours. Siddhartha Medical College is affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Vijayawada. Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences curriculum includes theory & practical training in Allied Basic Science, Clinical Dermatology, Dermatology, Venereology, Leprosy, Dermatopathology, Dermatosurgery (including lasers), general & tropical dermatology including virology, leprosy and their public social health and preventive, dermatology including skin manifestation, recent advances in dermatology, venerology and leprosy. On completing the course, the specialists can join hospitals, skin clinics, colleges, universities, research institutes as Dermatologist, Skin Specialist, Leprosy specialist, Venereologist, Clinical Application Specialist, Dermatology Consultant, Reader, Professor, Researcher.
