Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc Nursing) in Psychiatry Nursing is a postgraduate level of programme offered by Sivagiri Sree Narayana Medical Mission College of Nursing Varkala . M.Sc. Psychiatric Nursing is a two-year postgraduate course specialising in Mental health of patients. Patience, dedication and compassion for the patients and their family is a very critical skill needed for this specialisation. The course prepares them to be an aid in assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health problems like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse etc. The course also trains them to treat patients with violence, anger issues, grief and other adjustment issues. After diagnosing tests, they have to make a treatment plan and follow it. If necessary, they should administer medications and psychotherapy to the patient.
