Course
Master of Science (M.Sc) in Statistics is a Postgraduate programme. Master of Science (M.Sc) in Statistics course offered by Government Arts and Science College in Chittur. M.Sc. Statistics is an advanced study of the collection, organization, and interpretation of data. Even though data is usually in the form of numerical figures, it can also be expressed as a relationship between different such entities. The course’s curriculum also covers supporting features of data management, such as assisting surveys. Enrolled students are taught appropriate statistical methods to solve data analysis- related technicalities, to implement such analyses on computer, and to interpret and communicate the results clearly and succinctly. Also, M.Sc. Statistics course offers advanced training in applied and computational statistics, statistical machine learning, and the fundamental principles of statistical inference. Training is imparted through extensive lectures and hands-on practical sessions. Students work in the computer laboratory, perform exhaustive report writing and prepare supervised dissertations.

Eligibility
- The candidate seeking admission into post graduation should have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum of 40% marks in the concerned subject. For the courses where the admission is based on the degree as a whole, the aggregate percentage of marks in the group subjects should be 40%. For admission into M.Ed., the aggregate marks in B.Ed. should be 50% and in degree/PG should be 45%. Pass is sufficient for SC/ST candidates for admission into any course.
- Candidates who have already passed the qualifying examination or who have appeared / are appearing for the final year annual examination in 2016 are also eligible to apply. Supplementary candidates of 2016 are not eligible.
- The Admission to MA / MSc / MCom / MPEd / MSW / MLISc course is through a University level entrance test called "Government Arts and Science College in Chittur Common Entrance Test"(SKUCET), conducted by the Directorate of Admissions, Government Arts and Science College in Chittur
- Seats are filled by the Convener of SKUCET based on the ranks secured in SKUCET and as per the rules of reservation in force.
