The department has plans for a well equipped laboratories, such as Instrumentation, Experimental Stress Analysis, Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, IC Engines, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Robotics, Welding Technology, Automation and Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), Heat Transfer and Solar Energy.
B.E. in Mechanical Engineering is an undergraduate program. It deals with machines, their design, manufacturing and performance for the benefit of mankind. Modern manufacturing processes have resulted into mass production items at low cost and high quality. Mechanical engineers have unique role in power plants, modern factories, space, travels, steel plants, etc. This branch is universal and useful for mankind.

Eligibility
Eligibility to join the 4 year Bachelor of Engineering courses of the Visvesvaraya Technological University is a pass in the two – year Pre University Examination (Science) conducted by the Karnataka State Pre University Board or any other examination recognised by the University as equivalent thereto, subject to their having obtained a 45% ( 40% for SC/ST ,Cat I,IIA, IIB,IIIA & IIIB ) of marks in aggregate in the three subjects of Physics, Mathematics and any one of the following subjects namely Chemistry, Biology & Biotechnology.
