Course
M.Tech. in Thermal Power Engineering is a postgraduate program. Thermal Power Plants have an increasingly dominant role to play in the vital power generation sector. The course content aims at developing the necessary analytical and technical competence among engineers in this area.Thermal Power Engineering the branch of heat engineering that deals with the conversion of heat into other forms of energy, mainly mechanical and electric. Mechanical energy is generated from heat in heat engines, which power, for example, machine tools, automobiles, and conveyors; the mechanical energy from heat engines also drives certain types of electric generators.

Eligibility
Eligibility to join the 2 year Master of Technology course of the Visvesvaraya Technological University is a pass in the Bachelors Degree course in Mechanical Engineering from AICTE recognized University subject to aggregate of 50% of marks for General Category and 45% marks for SC/ST, Cat I,IIA, IIB,IIIA & IIIB. Candidates should have appeared from PGCET/GATE.
