Course
Master of Science in Psychology is better known as M.Sc in Psychology is a post-graduation course that is handled by the St. Mary's College Thrissur. The course covers two years and is divided into four semesters. Psychology is a scientific research program that deals with mental behavior and the study of knowing the mind of humans. The eligibility in studying this program is that the aspirant should study a similar subject for graduation and should achieve 50-60% marks for each subject. St. Mary's College is affiliated with the University of Calicut. University of Calicut shall consist of a curriculum with subjects such as Statistics in Behavioural Science, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive psychology 2, Psychometrics Theory, Research Methods in Psychology, Experimental designs theory, Neuropsychology, Elective, Seminar and Practical. Applications of Psychology 1, Dynamics and Interpersonal Behaviour Theory, Psychology of Social Behaviour Theory, Applications of psychology 2, Systems and Skills, Dissertation, Personality Theory, Systems and Skills Intervention, Synopsis and Self and Positive Psychology. In the syllabus, they are a list of electives such as Psycho Diagnostic and Assessment, Organisational Dynamics, Special Areas of Counselling, Engineering Psychology, Therapeutics in Counselling, Perspectives in Mental Health, Issues in Industrial Psychology, Assessment in Guidance and Counselling, Psychological Treatment of Mental Disorders, Psychopathology, Guidance and Counselling Psychology, and Principles of Organisational Behaviour. Aspirants after completing their study can work in different job positions in different areas like schools, colleges, hospitals, courtrooms, laboratories, community health centers, prisons, and corporate offices. The different job positions and can become as Psychologist, Counsellor, Social Psychologist, Staff Recruiter, Educational Psychologist, Urban Planning Officer, Child Support Specialist, Social Worker, Research Specialist, Consultant, and Human Resource Assistant.
