Course:
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Optometry is an UG Programme offered by Susruta School of Optometry & Visual Sciences Kochi. B.Sc Optometry is a four-year undergraduate course on vision-related problems and care. Susruta School of Optometry & Visual Sciences Kochi is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS). Its focus on examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the eye. It also trains the student to use various optical instruments to aid in diagnosing and therapy. The applicant should have passed 12th exam in science stream. Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) the curriculum consists of subjects like optometry; general and ocular biochemistry; clinical psychology; general and ocular physiology; general and ocular anatomy; hospital procedures; low vision aids; pharmacology; optometric instruments and clinical examination of the visual system; optometric and dispensing optics etc. Susruta School of Optometry & Visual Sciences Kochi Graduated students can join as Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist, Ophthalmic Assistant or start his own optical shop or optical manufacturing unit.
Duration: 4 years
Eligibility:
- Candidates for admission to the course should have passed Higher Secondary examination conducted by Board of Higher Secondary Education / Vocational higher Secondary, Kerala or any examination equivalent thereto as approved by Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. Should have 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together.
