B.Sc. Biochemistry - (Biochemistry, Zoology, Microbiology)
- Biochemistry : Bachelor of Science in Biochemistryor B.Sc. Biochemistry (B.Sc. Biochem) is an undergraduate course in chemical and physio-chemical processes. Biochemistry is the study of using Chemical processes and principles in studying biological process and living matter. It is a branch of science which deals with chemistry which is applied to the study of living organisms and the atoms and molecules which comprise living organisms.
- Zoology : Zoology, also known as Animal Biology, is the branch of biology that deals with living as well as extinct animals and their interaction with their ecosystems. Zoology is the branch of biology which relates to the animal kingdom, including the structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habits, and distribution of all animals, both living and extinct.
- Microbiology : B.Sc. Microbiology or Bachelor of Science in Microbiology is an undergraduate Microbiology course. Microbiology is a broad discipline that involves the study of the biology of bacteria, viruses, protozoa and fungi. The main focus of the course is the pathogenic potential of the organisms that cause disease in man. The course also covers aspects of the biochemistry, physiology and genetics of microorganisms.
Duration
It is a 3 year, 6 semester full time undergraduate degree course, affiliated to Bangalore University, Bangalore and recognized by Govt.of Karnataka.
Specific Objectives of the course are :
- To enlighten the students with theoretical knowledge, relating to molecular structure with biological functions.
- To enhance the practical skills in chemistry and zoology.
- To improve the versatility of the knowledge acquired and their application in the field of diagnostics, industry, microbiology and biotechnology.
Eligibility
Should have cleared the Pre-University examination of Karnataka, Pre-University or an equivalent examination conducted by any other board/ Pre-University or 10+2, equivalent examination should have minimum 35% or pass marks aggregate in PCB/CBZ.
