University of Kerala Thiruvananthapuram offers M.Sc Geography, a two-year postgraduate study for the students with BSc Geography or equivalent from a recognized university. Geography is a study of earth and its relation with humans and its effect. The program also includes population distribution, economic and political activities. The topics such as earth’s atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and geosphere are introduced to the students. University of Kerala curriculum includes topics such as dynamic geography, geographical thought, economic geography, man and natural environment, quantitative techniques in geography, climatology and oceanography, principles and theory of economic geography, advanced geography in India, agricultural geography, disaster perception and management, urban geography, political geography, research methodology, water resource and their management, agricultural geography, geography of Rajasthan, climatology, fundamentals of remote sensing, biogeography, applied geography, water resource and their management and so on. The students after completing the study could choose employment in the areas such as pollution control boards, Indian bureau of mines, the ministry of environment and forest, forestry and environmental Studies and much more. The students could work as Research Fellow, Lecturer, Geographical information Systems Analyst, Cartographer, Geographer, Marine Geologists, Oceanographer, Operations Manager, Senior Executive Assistant, and others.
