Course

M.Sc Home Science (Food and Nutrition) is a postgraduate two-year program that is occurred under University of Kerala Thiruvananthapuram. The program is based on nutrition and food development and production. The basic eligibility for undergoing this program is that the students must complete their graduation in any of the streams like biology, chemistry, life science, biochemistry, nutrition and dietetics, and so on with an aggregation of 55% marks on each subject. The program is designed for students to get in-depth and advance knowledge in food science and to get an understanding of food science in food safety and nutrition. University of Kerala shall possess a curriculum with topics such as Research Methods in Food Science and Nutrition, Institutional Food Administration and Country and Continental Cuisines, Specialization 2: Therapeutic Nutrition, Biochemistry 1: Biomolecules and Energetics, Statistical Methods in Food Science and Nutrition, Food Microbiology, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Advanced Nutrition, Nutrition Epidemiology, Pediatrics ,and Geriatric Nutrition, Specialization 1: Food Processing Nutrition in Disease and Disorders, Applied and Community Nutrition Nutrition and Critical Care, Introduction to Computers, Scientific Writing and Nutrition, Communications, Advanced Food Science ,Common Practical Papers:- Nutrition for Health and Fitness, Food Processing and Technology, Biochemistry, 2: Metabolism and Diagnostic Biochemistry, Project Problems in Human Nutrition Techniques and Instrumentation in Nutrition Research, Human Physiology, Food Product: Development Safety and Quality Control. After completing the studies the students can work in different job roles such as quality control manager, food scientist, food technologist, nutritionist, Diet technician, Nutrition Manager, Marketing/ Sales Consultant, and so on.
