The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in the year 2004-2005 with an intake of 60 students and the same has been enhanced to 120 students by AICTE during academic year 2013-14. Mechanical Engineering is a discipline that use materials science, mathematics to design and applies principles of physics. Engineers use these core principles along with tools that aid in developing aircraft’s, industrial machinery and equipment’s, heating and cooling systems, etc. Mechanical Engineering Department is the most sought for its practical real-world oriented teaching practices. B.E Mechanical Engineering is an undergraduate program. Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest among engineering disciplines. The application base of Mechanical Engineering field of study is diverse and its scope is continuously expanding beyond the traditional boundaries. Mechanical Engineering applies the principles of Physics, Materials Science and Mathematics to the design, development, research, evaluation, manufacture, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and management of mechanical systems. Mechanical Engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product life-cycle management to design, analyse and develop manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, and others.Mechanical Engineer thinks up,design,realizes new products and processes, improves and optimizes existing technologies.

Eligibility
- Have passed the Second year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Karnataka State Pre-University Board with Science Subjects.
- 10 + 2 of the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) / ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education)
- Any other equivalent examination recognized by the University.
- The candidate should have secured an aggregate of 45% with Physics & Mathematics as a Parth of the subjects, along with one of the following subjects:-
- Chemistry
- Biotechnology
- Computer Science
- Biology & Electronics
- Eligibility criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC are 40% in optional subjects. The candidate must have had appeared and cleared English as one of the subjects.
