The Department of Mechanical Engineering is recognized by VTU as a Research Centre to offer PhD/ M.Sc.(Eng.) by research. Department provides a platform for research in emerging areas like Impact Engineering, Composite Materials, Alternative Fuels, Nano Sciences, etc., through its research centre and deliberates the latest technologies through research publications. The department has MOU’s with various industries for training the students and faculties.
Mechanical engineering is an engineering branch that combines engineering physics and mathematics principles with materials science to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. It is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering branches.

Eligibility
- The candidates shall possess a Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent from any University recognized by UGC, with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks at either the Bachelor’s or the Master's Degree in the relevant discipline.
- The candidates shall possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent from any University recognized by UGC, with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks in the relevant discipline to seek admission for M.Sc by research.
