M.ch (Master of Chirurgiae) in surgical gastroenterology is an advanced postgraduate program which is offered by the Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram under the Kerala University of Health Sciences Thrissur. Master of surgery in Gastroenterology is a stream in medical science. It teaches all types of surgeries on hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal parts of the human body and includes pancreatic surgery and surgical oncology of liver, stomach,colon etc. Medical professionals can join in this degree by completing MBBS or MS/MD from any recognized university under the Medical Council of India. Admissions to the Government Medical College recognized by the Kerala University of Health Sciences are based on the institutes entrance examination and counselling. The Kerala University of Health Sciences covers a syllabus that includes the subjects General principles of GI surgery, Operating room techniques, GI surgical tubes, operative techniques, endoscopy,management of surgical infections, postoperative complications,laparoscopic surgical procedures, and use of RFA and lasers in GI surgery.
