Course
MD Psychiatry is a three-year postgraduate medical program in Psychiatry offered by Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute Thrissur. MBBS holders from MCI approved university are eligible for this program. The program creates competent psychiatrists to diagnose, counsel, treat, prevent, and ensure patients' mental well-being. They also handle substance abuse disorders. Some psychiatrists opt for advanced specializing, including child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, psychosomatic, psychoanalysis, or psychiatry research. Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences Thrissur. Kerala University of Health Sciences syllabus consists of papers like psychology, anatomy, physiology, the biochemistry of the brain, neurology and neurosurgery, child psychiatry, community psychiatry, social psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, preventive psychiatry, practical training at mental asylums, biostatistics, research methodology and clinical epidemiology, ethics,medico-legal aspects of psychiatry, psychiatry health policy issues.
