Course
M.A Islamic history is a religious postgraduate study program offered in Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam. The program can be studied for two years and four semesters. Students should pass in any of the under graduation programs and should score approximately 50% of marks. The study encompasses all the traditional forms of religious thought, such as Kalam (Islamic theology) and Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). It assimilates fields generally considered secular in the West, such as Islamic science and Islamic economics. The Mahatma Gandhi University shall possess a curriculum with topics such as History of Muslim Civilization (from the Advent of Islam till the fall of Baghdad, i.e., 1258 A.D), History of Muslim Civilization in The Medieval Period-Sundry Dynasties,Islamic Religious Sciences: The Quran, Hadith, Fiqh and Tasawwuf, Development of Muslim Sects, Kalam and Philosophy, (A) Arabic, (B) Non-Muslim’s Contribution to Islamic Studies, Islam in the Indian Subcontinent, Islam in The Modern Age (from 1800 A.D. onwards), Muslim Reform Movements and Thinkers, Major World Religions (Aryans & Semitic Religions), (A): Arabic, (B): Special Study of Medieval Muslim Contribution to Science, and Technology and Fine Arts. After being a scholar in studies, the students can achieve the best job roles such as Tourist Guide, Translator, Article Writer, Columnist ,Regional & Urban Planner, Teacher, Lecturer, Home Tutor, Social Welfare Officer, Operator, and Translator.
