Course
MD Transfusion Medicine is a post graduate course for doctors, which is offered by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bengaluru. It deals with the study of proper usage of blood and its components in the treatment of human diseases. Transfusion medicine combines both the direct and indirect aspects of patient care. To get into the course the candidate should possess an MBBS degree with 50% mark from a recognized university.Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences curriculum include Pre-transfusion Testing, General Surgical Support, Haematology and Oncology,Neonatology and Paediatrics, Scientific Basis of Transfusion, Nephrology, Organization and function of regional bloodservice, and hospital transfusion service, Medicolegal consideration, Blood substitutes, Therapeutic Aphaeresis and Phlebotomy, Transfusion, Autoimmunity, Adverse effect of Blood transfusion and so on. The candidates after the successful completion of the course could work in Colleges and Universities, Hospitals, Military Services, Private Clinics and Govt.Healthcare Services and so on. The doctor can serve as Medical Officer, Consultant, Professor, Clinical Associate, Blood BankTechnologist and so on.
