Course
M.Ch (Master of Chirurgiae) in Neurosurgery is an advanced postgraduate course done by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bengaluru. Neurosurgery is a medical surgery branch that examines, observes, diagnoses, and treats the nervous system's disorders. They perform surgery on the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves to remove tumours, relieve chronic pain and treat wounds, vascular disorders and diseases such as Parkinson's and epilepsy. Medical candidates can pursue this course by completing MBBS and MS/DNB from a recognized university under the Medical Council of India. Candidates can join this program by passing the entrance examination (NEET, AIIMS) done in universities. The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has put forward a syllabus that includes the topics such as neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neuroradiology, neurology, neuropharmacology, neuropathology, fluid-electrolyte balance and nutrition, critical care, infection, cerebrovascular surgery, neurotrauma and critical neurosurgical care, pain management, pediatric neurosurgery, surgery of peripheral nervous system and so on. After the postgraduation program, the scholars can lead different careers like neurosurgeons, clinical associate, consultant, professor, researcher, senior neurosurgeon, senior resident etc.
