Course
Master of Science in Psychiatry Nursing is a postgraduate program offered by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bengaluru. M.Sc. Psychiatry Nursing is a two-year course aims to cater to the needs of psychiatric patients professionally. The student should have passed B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Hons.Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing. The curriculum gives in-depth knowledge in advanced nursing practice, nursing education, mental health nursing, nursing management and nursing research & statistics. Patience, dedication and compassion for the patients and their family are expected from the candidates of this course. The course meticulously prepares the students to confidently assess, diagnose and treat mental health problems like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse etc. The study also helps them to cope up patients with violence,anger issues, grief and other adjustment issues. After diagnosing tests, they have to implement a treatment plan and follow it. The nurses are expected to administer medications and psychotherapy on need basics. The course open job opportunities in different health care settings and organisations in roles like nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists,administrators, educators and researchers.
